During quarantine, my serenity and inspiration came from walking and shooting the streets of New York. From the people, streets, grid, buzz, and sense of internal hope. These collages were created between 2020-2021 to capture what the city does to you—how afterward, you are never the same. She is never the same, but it still feels like a familiar place—like home. This is my love letter to New York.
My collages are about creating new realities where photos are my colors and brushes as I paint new worlds based on my perspective. Motion allowed me to tell a fascinating short story of the world I'm creating through the exploration of animation. In this series of works, words—specifically ‘pleasure’ and ‘no vacancy’—play a big part in telling the story of the migration from and to the city. It encapsulates the wave of new, youthful energy around diversity and change.
